My name derives from the Greaak name Alékso that is drawn from the verb Aléxein (protect) and means one who protects.
In some cases is the short form of Alessandra. The name is very common in Russia.
The feast day of Alessia is celebrated on January 9th in memory of French Sant'Alessia virgin martyr.
